beginning somewhere....

hello, lovely reader(s)--

all my life, i have loved to read. and though i say love, what i really mean, is that i cannot remember a day from the time when i figured out what the letters on the page meant to this one that i have not read at least of a few pages of some book. in third grade, my best friend and i would have speed reading contests to see who could finish a page first. so then, in addition to being a passionate reader, i became a FAST reader. and since i'm currently self employed, i have some flexibility in spending my time. which means i've been reading a lot.

this blog is chance to:

a. catalog, rate, review and summarize what i've read, (thus remembering it for the future) and
b. offering some great suggestions to you, reader, if you'd care to take them.

so i'll try for a post every 2-3 days. i'm warning you: my taste for books spans the genres. there will be literary fiction, memoirs, biographies, history, historical fiction, young adult, even the occasional children's book. there might be cookbook reviews. there will be royals.

i predict that i will occasionally give you lengthly, breathless accounts of books i adored. sometimes, the review will be short: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK FOR ANY REASON.

i'll give each book up to 5 stars, and will sometimes recommend potential giftees, should you read a book, and feel that someone else should too.

sometimes i might go a little crazy, and bring in other people's opinions, or help you plan a meal around a book. there's really no way of knowing what my brain will come up with.
